The story of Guacalito begins with Don Carlos Pellas, a prominent Nicaraguan entrepreneur and one of Latin America’s most influential figures. In 2003, as he reflected on his 50th birthday, Don Carlos envisioned a legacy that would give back to Nicaragua, a country that had given his family so much for over a century. His goal was to showcase Nicaragua’s raw, natural beauty and shift international perceptions, revealing a country ready to be discovered.

ASSEMBLING A WORLD-CLASS TEAM
Don Carlos brought together an elite team of international experts in land planning, architecture, golf course design, and hospitality. Notable contributors included renowned interior designer Paul Duesing and acclaimed spa consultant Angel Vezina Stewart. This team collaborated with skilled local craftsmen, blending traditional Nicaraguan elements into the resort’s design. The project employed and trained numerous locals in high-level hospitality, fostering a uniquely Nicaraguan experience.

A reforestation project producing 10 million gallons of water annually, aiding over 9,000 residents.
