Sustainability

“We must not look at the world as an inheritance from our parents but rather as a loan from our children” - Carlos Pellas

One of the guiding principles for the Pellas Family and for Guacalito de la Isla is a dedication to conservation and giving back to the greater good. We believe that part of our legacy and responsibility as human beings is to make the moments of our lives and efforts of our work take steps toward making the world a better place for future generations.

The vision, planning, and design of Guacalito de la Isla follow that spirit of dedication, leaving a light footprint on the land through various renewable energy methods, the re-use of gray water and rainwater, and other sustainable building and daily living practices.  Life at Guacalito de la Isla also creates opportunities for learning and growth and inherently supports those around us who are in need. Our corporate social responsibility initiatives have been active since well before the start of construction, giving back to the surrounding communities in Nicaragua through education and the creation of a supportive structure for social sustainability.
